WebClass
- What is a WebClass ?
WebClass is distance learning with live delivery of seminars or workshops. The trainer is a MicrOpay expert instructor using state-of-the-art interactive Web conferencing tools.
- Where are WebClass events held?
WebClasses are similar to regular instructor-led training classes, except the participants are not located in the same physical place. For any given WebClass, participants might be physically located in completely different cities, countries, or regions. They interact via their Internet connections—they can hear each other, interact with each other, and see live video of the instructor.
- At what times are WebClasses usually scheduled? Do they run from 9 am to 5 pm?
WebClasses are scheduled with a specific time zone in mind, but anyone can enroll in any class no matter what the target time zone. For example, a class might start at 11 am Eastern Standard Time, but for students attending the class in the Western Australia time zone, the start time is 9 am. Students should pay close attention to time zones when enrolling in WebClasses to ensure that they understand the exact times of the class.
- What is the difference between a WebClass and other MicrOpay online offerings?
WebClasses are conducted in real time with a MicrOpay instructor. Other online offerings are self-paced, giving students the ability to pause the training and return to it at a later time or day. Different offerings have different advantages—students are encouraged to pursue the method that best meets their needs.
- What are some advantages of the WebClass format?
WebClasses offer professional MicrOpay training without the time and expense of travel. By avoiding expensive travel, customers can stretch their training budgets further. Also, because WebClasses are global events that anyone can join, students have more options for scheduling training. In addition, if the class is cancelled or postponed, there are no travel plans to cancel or change.
Different students have different training preferences, but many students appreciate the unique opportunities for interaction that are available in a distance-learning environment. These include chat, polling, quizzes, whiteboards, emoticons, and other opportunities for collaboration that are unique to the WebClass format.
- What kinds of courses are available in the WebClass format? How many will there be?
Courses span a range of specific MicrOpay software topics. The number of courses available in this format will grow steadily. Refer to the web listing for current learning opportunities.
- How do I participate in the audio portion of my WebClass?
The audio portion of your WebClass is delivered using either standard teleconferencing or voice-over-IP (VoIP) depending on the time of your class.
If your class occurs during regular business hours in Australia, you will use standard toll-free teleconferencing (with a regular land phone or mobile) to access the audio portion of the class.
If your class occurs during regular business hours elsewhere in the world (for example, business hours in Europe or Asia) where phone charges are costly, you will use voice-over-IP (VoIP) to access the audio portion of the class. VoIP means that students don't use phones to hear the instructor's voice. Instead, the audio portion is built into the Web conference, significantly decreasing the phone cost of attending the event.
- Do I need special equipment for a WebClass?
Prospective students should view the WebClass requirements listing for complete requirements. However, the basic prerequisites are a stable Internet connection, a standard PC or laptop, and a headset that has an integrated microphone (if the audio portion of your class uses voice-over-IP).
- Do I need to configure my PC or laptop to attend a WebClass?
Depending on the course, some configuration may be required. This may include a small download necessary for accessing the session. Prospective students should view the WebClass course outline for details.
- After I register, how is my WebClass enrolment confirmed?
After purchasing a WebClass, you will receive a series of emails communicating the confirmation process and providing details on attending the course. These communications include a link to your WebClass with a telephone number and audio pin number.
- How and when are course materials distributed?
Students attending WebClasses are emailed student materials. This is sent 7 days in advance of the class (or less depending upon when the enrolment occurs). This enables students to review the materials and prepare before the class start date.
- What if I have setup problems before or during class? How do I get help?
MicrOpay Web Classes are supported by producers who can help with all technical issues before and during class. Producers can be reached in advance of class by emailing: training@micropay.com.au. Students in Australia can also contact a producer by calling 1300 729 229. Reference your client number or class ID number when contacting a producer.
